Been watching some juvie cardinals outside my window at work. They've only
recently showed up with their parental units foraging for food just a few
feet away from my desk. Their daddy loves to crash into my window thinking
he sees a stranger in the reflection. Yesterday I saw a hawk land right at
the base of a pine tree and I was able to get a picture of him. At first I
didn't see what he was up to. He raised his wings either in preparation of
flight or to frighten something which he apparently did real well. Once I
saw what he was looking at I stopped with the picture taking and banged on
the window hoping to scare him off. He immediated ran over to where the
juvie was trying to hide ostrich style in a clump of grass. I went closer to
try to get a picture just as he put one foot on the juvies head and pressed
down for a better grip. I moved closer to see about getting a shot and he
saw me through the window and flew over to an oak tree with the juvie in his
claws. Later I saw him flying from the tree with a small package in his grip
headed toward a small forested area, possibly taking dinner to his chicks.
Later I saw the daddy cardinal atop nearby bushes chirping away, presumably
for his lost offspring. This may be the same hawk we saw take out many doves
when we usd to feed them from little feeders in the pine trees. My boss
asked us to quit feeding them because she didn't like seeing the carnage.
Well carnage happens, hawks gotta eat too.

Saw I was about to hit 80K so I exited the tollway and took a picture. Was a
1/2 block from the Home Depot and needed some seed so I picked some up. This
bike has been unreal dependable for the first 80K though I think I'm about
to need a nrew battery. The cranking has been getting slower and slower.

Looks like that might make a Wide Legged Warbler happy........

Not sure about wide legged warblers but doves, sparrows, blue jays and
cardinals seem to like it.
The wife doesn't like the ride of the stock seat, too stiff. I had to remove
the touring version that was much more comfy for her due to wear points on
the outer edges that allowed water to seep into the seat while riding in the
rain and getting my pants wet for days later when I wasn't wearing a
rainsuit. She also refuses to ride the shovel with the suction cup seat that
sticks to the fender when I remove the fender bib to take a passenger. She
loves to bring that seat up in conversations about riding with me. I don't
think I ever even asked her to join me on the shovel with that seat anyway.
